Welcome, my name is Claire Ashton. I’m originally from the UK and I have been in Australia for 3 years. Whilst I have been in Australia I have studied both my Certificate 3 and my Diploma in Children's Services and I am currently studying my Advanced Diploma which I am hoping to complete by the end of 2011.
I have owned my own family day care business in the UK for 18 months, and then I have worked in long day care since I have been in Australia. I have worked in EarlyCare Wagaman since July 2009 where I started working as a group leader in the Babies room, and I have been Manager since March 2010.
I have 2 school aged children of my own and I am currently expecting my 3rd child so I understand the pressures of being a working parent.
I thoroughly enjoy watching the children I care for progress and develop their own personalities and independence.
I believe that children in our care deserve the best possible care and support when they are away from their families and the children are always our number 1 priority. The Early Years are incredible to work within as the children develop so much and it is a pleasure to work with children and their families.
I have a strong team with most of my educators having been at the service for at least 2 years and I know that each educator gives 100% each and every day they care for the children
We like to provide a smooth transition from home to long day care and as some of us are parents ourselves, we are aware of what parents need and would like for their children and we are proud that we are a friendly and trustworthy service.
We have a large natural outdoor environment which is great for the children in Darwin as it allows the children to run around and have fun in the outdoors while they are still in a secure environment. This also enables the children to explore their surroundings freely.
